Choosing the right bin

It helps to know what is going in before you call. A pile of soil fills a bin by weight long before it fills it by volume, while furniture and garden prunings take up room without weighing much.

Describe the load to each business the same way and ask which bin they would send. If their suggestions differ, the sheet shows you why.

On the day

Leave a clear path for the truck and move cars off the driveway the night before. Put boards down if you are worried about the surface under the bin.

Load the heaviest things first and spread the weight. Keep the booking and this sheet together until the bin has gone.

Where to check

  • ABN Lookup, Australian Business Register

Shows whether a business's ABN is active or cancelled, its business type and its GST status, and the Register says the public can use it to check a business before buying.
